How to Reset Windows Password
0Resetting windows password is a useful task if you have forgotten your login detail. It could happen easily. If you have another administrator user on that computer this task will be simplified for you. Otherwise you will have to do little extra work to achieve your goal. This article is for education purposes and to be used in the case you forgot your password.
Using a different User
You can use any administrator user to reset password for other users (even other administrators). First you should make sure your user is administrator. Therefore click on start -> type “cmd” -> right click on cmd and press “a” on your keyboard. This will try to run the program as an administrator. If the Windows opened up a new Window with “yes” or “no” options, click on “yes”. If you were denied access to this task please follow the second option.
Now type the following:
- “Net user”: Shows you the list of users.
- “Net user [targeted username] *”: This command will allow you to change the targeted username password. Remember that the capitalization of the usernames matter. In addition do not include the brackets.
- Now type your password. Remember everything you type will be inputted but noting is visible. Do not worry about it.
- Retype password and then you are done. You can login into the targeted user with new password.
Using Rescue Disk Trinity
In this method you will be using third party software to crack the windows password and change it. You can download this software from this website. You should burn this program onto a CD or put it on a bootable USB. Restart the windows and boot this program up. In the first you will be given options to change administrator password however you might need to change the password of a specific user.
Enter the command line and follow these steps:
- Type “winpass –u [targeted username]”. Again brackets are not required.
- Type “1” and hit [ENTER]
- Now you can either enter a new password for that user or leave a blank password. Therefore type “*” and hit [ENTER] to remove the password.
- If it asked you “Do you really wish to change the password?” Type “Y” and press [ENTER].
- Type “init 0” to shut down the trinity rescue disk and boot up the windows again.
You can use this program to perform more advanced tasks however they are beyond the scope of this article. If you wish to know more about this program read the documentation. In addition this software is free; therefore never make payments to anyone trying to sell it unless they wanted to charge for the CD. Furthermore more you can also perform more tasks using cmd to restrict users. For example you can put time limit for users therefore they can only login within a specific time period of the week.
Removing Virus (Microsoft official walk through)
2How do I remove a computer virus?
If your computer is infected with a virus, you’ll want to remove it as quickly as possible. A fast way to check for viruses is to use an online scanner, such as the Microsoft Safety Scanner. The scanner is a free online service that helps you identify and remove viruses, clean up your hard disk, and generally improve your computer’s performance.
If you’re not sure whether your computer has a virus, see How can I tell if my computer has a virus? to check for some telltale signs. To try a different online scanner, follow the links to other companies that provide them on the Windows Security software providerswebpage.
If you can connect to the Internet
If you can reach a website using your web browser, run an online scan.
To run the Microsoft Safety Scanner
- Go to the Microsoft Safety Scanner webpage to download the scanner.
- Click Download Now, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
If you can’t connect to the Internet
If you can’t get to the Microsoft Safety Scanner online, try restarting your computer in safe mode with networking enabled.
To restart in Safe Mode with networking enabled
- Restart your computer.
- When you see the computer manufacturer’s logo, press and hold the F8 key.
- On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking, and then press Enter.
- Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
- Follow the steps above to run the Microsoft Safety Scanner.
For more information about different startup modes, see Start your computer in safe mode.
If you still can’t access the Internet after restarting in safe mode, try resetting yourInternet Explorer proxy settings. The following steps reset the proxy settings in theWindows? registry so that you can access the Internet again.
How to Remove a Computer Virus
0We all know malware is out there.Malware includes applications that spy on you, corrupt your data, destroy your hard drive or give control of your machine to someone thousands of miles away. No matter what form it takes, it’s bad business. And since there are a lot of examples of malware in the wild, it may only be a matter of time before you become the victim of a malware attack.
The most important advice we can give anyone who believes he or she has a computer with malware on it is this: Don’t panic. Also, don’t assume that you need to wipe your computer clean and start from scratch. Often you can remove malware without having to erase everything else. You may lose some data in the process, but you probably won’t lose everything. (more…)
How to remove Celas Virus
3
Celas virus is a new Trojan distributed over the internet in the past few weeks. I searched online for hours but could not find a valid solution. This virus locks you out of the computer and asks you to pay $50. The following screen is an example of how this virus behaves. One of the easiest ways to remove it is reinstalling windows. All your programs and C drive will be gone therefore it’s not a favourable option. By the way this virus is not distributed by celas. Scammers used celas name to put fear into their victims and make them pay.
I know people who have formatted their hard drives after being infected by this virus. Of course this option is always available to you however let’s try to remove it first. There are various ways to secure system if it’s infected by a virus. Usually booting into the safe mode is the best option however this advance virus does not even allow you to boot into safe mode. This type of Trojan is called Ransomware.
In the past there have been Ransomware programs which restrict access to windows or decrypt the files however they were weak and easy to remove using safe-mode with networking. But this virus blocks you even out of safe mode which shows it’s not a start-up program. If you have updated your computer recently it will be a point to your advantage otherwise you need access to a Windows CD.
One of the solutions is to find a Trojan expert forum and post your logs online so experts can help you remove the software. Use of any antivirus or registry program is not recommended at this time. If your antivirus was going to help you, your computer was not going to get infected at the first place.
System restore is a powerful windows tool used to restore your windows state to a different time. It’s like having a time-travel device and being able to travel to different points in your life. (Only backward) In order to enter system restore, restart your computer. Wait for bios screen to disappear and then press F8 frequently until you see a page with many options. Choose system restore. This option could be under system diagnosis. Now you can restore your system to a point in time in which it was healthy.
If the following option did not work lunch Windows repair. You can access this function the same by pressing F8 after the bios screen. Lunch this repair and let the windows repair it. Ideally one of these options should fix this problem and return your operative control back to you. Please comment your thought and tell me if these solutions worked for you. Furthermore please let us know if you found a better solution to fix this problem and get rid of scammers.
Speed Up your Computer Startup
2There are various reasons behind your computer slowing down during startup. However, you can easily deal with these problems to speed up the startup process.
Identifying Which Programs Load Automatically During Startup:
The most common cause of slow computer startup is the number of programs that load when the system starts. You first need to identify which programs load automatically during startup. It may be surprising, but the truth is that a vast number of programs automatically start when your computer boots up.
To identify the programs that load during startup, perform the following steps:
- Press SHIFT+CTRL+ESC key together to open Task Manager.
- On the Performance tab, check if the Performance Usage on your computer is higher than the Physical Memory (RAM) of your computer.
This is usually the main reason behind a slow startup. Too many programs running at the same time contribute to a slow and tedious startup and of retarded performance as well.
How to Deal With the Problem:
How to Spot Scam Websites
0

There are many fake websites which are like the real thing. For example websites of some of the most reputed banks are also being scammed.
It is not only banks that these scammers use they also use some of the most reputed company names such as Microsoft and Nokia. Here are some of the characteristics of a website that sells a scam.
- The website has lots of advertisements and slogans saying that you can get rich in a matter of months.
- The website itself is very impressive.
- The pay is very high as much as USD 150 a day. We all know that getting paid so much a day is not possible.
- The testimonials are very convincing. The testimonials sometimes are the only thing that stops the victim from suspecting a scam. They think if some else has done it, so can they.
- Even though Google search results show that the web site that is selling a work at home job is free, when you get to the page, read all the enticing facts at the bottom of the page it says that you have to pay a small amount as membership or a joining fee.
Windows 7 Freez fix
0I might have the answer to your problems. This might fix your sleep/suspend problems and your random freezing problems. Bottom line is that the default and “auto” values in Win 7 and your BIOS might not produce a stable computer…even with a virgin install.
RANDOM FREEZES FIX:
My computer used to freeze randomly until I fixed the memory timings. I suspected bad memory early on and tested it with MEMTEST, but it passed with flying colors. I even tried swaping memory out, trying to eliminate bad memory and/or slots. It turned out that it was a memory frequency/timings/voltage issue. No more freezes! If you have a similar setup, this will most likely fix it. If not, then check your memory and/or power supply.
The “AUTO” settings in BIOS *may not* produce a stable setting. You have to goto the ASUS support website and download the latest memory QVL and lookup the memory settings for your particular brand there. For my memory (OCZX1333LV6GK(XMP)) I had to make the following adjustments in the BIOS:
DRAM Freq:1066 (even though my memory is rated at 1333 frequency, the QVL guide recommended a lower freq!)
7-7-7-16 for the rest of the timings. The other settings I was able to leave in “AUTO”
DRAM BUS Voltage: 1.6
*warning: be sure to consult your memory/motherboard documentation…the wrong value could damage your components!
Fixing Blue Screen of Death
1

Has your computer ever gotten the “Blue Screen of Death”? OK, that name might be a bit over dramatic, but it has become very famous through the years of the Windows operating system. One day everything is going fine, and you’re your pounding away on the keyboard when it happens. Your screen disappears and a blue one pops up in its place with a cryptic message saying windows has encounter an error and must shut down. Then it gives a lot of numbers in the form of ‘OOxOOOOOO (OOxOOOOOO) etc…).
For a lot of people, this means that the computer is either going to be replaced, or taken into a shop to be repaired. Well, I’m writing this to give you another option! Fix-it-yourself to save money and a lot of time. Most computer repair places are so packed with computers to fix, that they will take about a week to get to yours. Then they will charge close to $100 to fix it!
For starters, I’ll explain why your computer has gotten the Blue Screen. There are several reasons it could have shown itself, the most common is the installation of a driver or other program onto the computer. Several times when Windows updates itself automatically it will download certain drivers, and that could be the culprit (I never did like windows). Or say you just installed a camera or printer, the drivers on the disc that came with it might have done it. So if you have downloaded some piece of information that you know of, then either uninstall it, or do a system restore (I’ll explain system restore in a later article). After that, if you still receive the Blue Screen, then the drivers might have corrupted the operating system itself. That means one of two things. We either have to ‘repair’ windows, or completely reinstall it. No matter which one, you should back up your information at this time. Put any pictures or programs or any other information you want to keep onto a disc, or flash drive, or some other storage device.
To repair windows, grab your Operating System disc that came with your computer (if you don’t have one, you can borrow someone else’s, or might have to purchase one, and otherwise you cannot proceed and have to take it to a shop). Make sure the disc is the same type of Operating System (OS) as the one on your computer. So if you are running XP Home, then use an XP Home disc, and if you’re using XP Pro, use an XP Pro disc. You can find out which OS you have by the sticker on your computer tower (the thing you put your disc into). It will tell you which OS and have a ‘product key’ on there. If you don’t have that product key, you’ll have to find it (might be on the booklet that came with your computer). If you can’t find it anywhere, you might have to get a new OS, or just not proceed any further with this repair. The product key has to be unique, it cannot be the same key as a friend is using, or duplicated anywhere else.

How to Maintain and Clean your PC
4In this article I will show you how to clean your PC hardware and software. You need the following material before we start:
Software
- Internet access
- Administrative rights
Hardware
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Tissue or a similar item
- Vacuum cleaner
- Air Duster
- Thermal Paste
Maintaining Software and Windows Environment
Always keep your anti-virus up-to-date. A virus or malware could do much more damage than anything else to your windows. For example recently a virus has been spread by scammers, which lock your computer and demands $50 in the name of Celas. The following is the Celas respond:
Statement on computer locking scam – 12th April 2012
CELAS has been alerted to the fact that some internet users have had their computers blocked after watching videos online with a message from ourselves saying they would need to pay £50 to have their computer unlocked.
This is an internet virus or scam and has nothing to do with CELAS or the police. We are currently investigating this issue.
We advise internet users to:
- Not make any payment to have your computer unlocked
- Update their anti-virus and firewall software
- Alert their internet service provider if this problem persists
One of the leading PC cleaners is called CCleaner. This is a simple too for cleaning temp folders and registry. You can download this program from this website. Furthermore it provides you with disk defragment tool which could be used to defrag hard drives and open up more spaces. You should at least run a defragment test once every three month. Occasionally you might open up to 17% of your hard drive space which could be few gigabytes.
Another important factor in keeping your windows healthy is run heavy programs solo. For example if you are running games, close as many background programs as possible. Firefox is a good example. It occupies big portion of your random access memory which slows down your game.
Maintaining Hardware
To maintain hardware you should be able to open your PC case and access and electronical devices. This is possible if your warranty is avoided. Make sure you don’t have liquids around when you open the case because electronical devices are very sensitive and you can break them pretty easy. Open the case by unscrewing your case. There are different levels of maintenance. We will go through all levels however you can choose how many levels to clean.
Level 1
Use a vacuum cleaner and hoover all your case. Make sure you go over fans and clean them perfectly. Keeping your PC temperature low is one of the most important factors in keeping PC healthy. Make sure you vacuum CPU fan perfectly because it tends to gather lots of dust. Use an air duster to clean dust from your electrical devices such as motherboard.
Take your memory (RAM) out and hoover their slots. Making sure the slots are perfectly clean. Put them back in with caution. Memories are very vulnerable therefore you should be very careful with them.
Level 2
This level is mainly about cleaning your CPU and motherboard. If you haven’t accessed you CPU before watch a

tutorial video online and be very careful. Open your CPU fan and take it out. Put some rubbing alcohol on a tissue or similar item and rub over the CPU until all the current thermal paste is gone and cleaned.
Do the same procedure on the back of your CPU fan to make sure it is clean.
Put Fresh thermal paste (You can buy online or from any electronic shop) on the middle of your CPU and use a card to spread it around evenly. Now put your fan back on carefully so you don’t mess the thermal paste. This paste eliminates space between the fan and the CPU making it much more efficient.
If you system does not boot well or is laggy afterwards you have not put enough paste on your CPU.
Level 3
This level is not recommended for people who are not familiar with PC hardware structure and are unable to assemble a PC together. Unscrew your motherboard and Power supply. Take them out of the case and clean them properly. (Using air duster and vacuum cleaner) Check over your motherboard capacitors to make sure there isn’t anything on top. (like a paste. This shows the capacitor is damaged) If that is the case you should consider replacing the capacitor or the motherboard. The pictures below show capacitors from a healthy motherboard:
Hoover the power supply fan. If it is possible open the power supply and clean inside it. They usually tend to gather a lot of dust. After this process put everything back inside and enjoy your faster computer.
I hope this article has been useful to you. I would be happy to answer all of your questions. Please comment us your opinion.
